My Sick Son :-(

Stephen has Croup. must had gotten sick from me – I am just recovering from the flu – I am really sorry Stephen.

The term croup does not refer to a single illness, but rather a group of conditions involving inflammation of the upper airway that leads to a cough that sounds like a bark, particularly when a child is crying.

But he is actually doing well – he is a strong kid and I am sure he will be well before the weekend is out.

Feeding Magic Required

Sometimes the Art of Distraction is required to feed a toddler.
Ha ha ha.
Sometimes Stephen says no, but then some slight of hand, an F16 Fighter Jet laden with food can work. Even just letting him play while sneaking in spoonfuls.
He he he.
Ok tonight was harder.

Observational Learning

We know the adage – or is it a cliche? Do what I say, not what I do. But that’s a bit stupid because, as social beings we learn more from observation. This is so evident in Stephen, who is 20 months old. There are things that he does that I know that I never taught him deliberately. For example, Stephen always wants to play in the can and he knows that the car key goes into the ignition. He holds a miniature cricket and poses like a genuine batsman – I never told him how to do that. One of the funniest things is how carefully he move a computer mouse around.
Ok, maybe it’s just easier for a toddler to learn like that because it is difficult to communicate otherwise.

Eczema

I hate this, if I played the lotto and won 100 million dollars I would trade it for the removal of Stephen’s Eczema. In many ways we are lucky, I mean he does not have it on his face and he does not scratch as much. But it is annoying. I sometimes just want to pull all my hair out.

• We have been to the doctor – the pediatrician.
• We have asked for advise and applied it.
• We have been as careful as we can with food. Cut out wheat and dairy for a while etc.

Stephen had always been breast-fed, and he drinks  enough water. We keep away from too much junk food – I get the feeling some times that people think we may be a bit extreme. Hmm, I hate it – the eczema, why I ask you why?

Trip to the Waterfront

Went to the yesterday, a perfect day – not many of these day left now that Winter is around the corner. But I think that we are so lucky in Cape Town with views like this; yet we also take it for granted – lets rather not, what do you say?.
